CAM’S BACK!

Erik Larsen’s “Obama Vs Osama” cover of The Savage Dragon reminded me of a convo I had w/ Duster the other day about how all the Image comics dudes look like their drawings - maybe not the gigantor muscles or pointy feet, but definitely the expressions (see: Woodman’s in-costume MTV Korea interview with Jim Lee). One day I’ll get around to scanning pages from my old ‘91 era convention sketchbook. Highlight: Evan Dorkin’s Sharpie sketch of Milk & Cheese shouting “BURN YOUR COMICS!”

Ric Flair Woo-ography. NYU protest nipples. Zaytoven beat raffle (”7 TICKETS FOR $500!”). papoose is the corniest rapper alive. LA pal Adam has a new record out from his band Pollyn, check it out cause they are groovy. More rejected XXXChange remixes. New skuzz rock 7″ on Mad Decent from Popo, who I played paintball with (Derek did you record this? Bass sounds Bleach Novoselic-y, I likes).

We put out two new records on Fool’s Gold in the past two weeks, debut singles from young Italian raveologist Congorock and my big Bay homie Trackademicks (whose release party was epic). BUY DEM!

Also next edition of Flashing Lights is March 6th w/ Mixhell and Nacho Lovers. We have a website! RSVP y’all. Here’s pics from the last one.

In Your Area

Out doin shows for a week, bunch of fun ones (LAX with DJ Class!) so click to the left for more info. Hope to see you there!

Bookmark purge: Warren G on Twitter, Designers Republic remembered (via Duster), lotsa new club on the Chavy Boys podcast, smoove DJ Sober “Satin Sheets” mix, DJ Quik video megamix (ok not a megamix just a few videos right after one another but they’re all awesome RESPECT THE PERM). Plus over at FG we’ve got some limited-edition vinyl, a free Sammy Bananas promo mix and more goodies.

Hay Guise

New mini-mix up for Nicky Digital (congrats!) with some favorites. Just finished up mixes for Scion Radio and Wired Magazine that will be up soonish. Got a remix on that Benzi/Kanye tape you may have read about.

Playing the Museum Of Natural History with my homie Michna (check his video) this Friday and the inimitable System D-128 on visuals. Come through! Afterparty at Flashing Lights of course.

The sheer joy of keeping a running diary of retarded text messages (with pals!) has rekindled my love of the internet. Flickr page is back up and running. New shots from awards shows and Eastern Europe, more soon…

On the FG tip we have a bunch of new Chromeo remixes and Craze’s take on “Say Whoa”.

Bunch of new Federation Sound podcasts (”juggling, remixes, dubplates, roots & culture, oldies, foundation & more”) you need to check up on. Cipha Sounds is posting some great vinyl rips every Wednesday too. Don’t care if Chinese Democracy is good or not, but I’m really feeling this W. Axl Rose-aissance in the press of late.
But most importantly CHICKEN NUGGETS HAVE THEIR OWN WEBSITE.

Birds Flying High You Know How I Feel

The free Fool’s Gold Remixed tour starts this week! Going down to Miami today, ATL tomorrow, and coming back for a huge-ass CMJ showcase in NYC on Thursday. I’m also playing “My Crew Be Unruly” at Love on Friday, Flashing Lights (back up in the loft!) at Public Assembly later on Friday, and the action-packed FADER CMJ spot on Saturday afternoon. Hope to see you at some (all!) of these.

Much Needed Roughage And Essential Inks

I’ve been shit lately w/ keeping up on the So What Have I Been Up To? posts so I finally got a Twitter (Can’t really get into Facebook, I think it’s a generational thing I don’t understand, the Gym Class Heroes of internetting.)

So What Have I Been Up To?

A podcast mix for the fine people at XLR8R. Fool’s Gold galore: Kid Sister dropped her single, we have a new compilation coming out with a free tour to support it, and a slew of other releases to check up on.

Cleaning out bookmarks… this new Redman song sounds like pre-steriod Busta album cuts aka best music ever. Genevan Heathen linking soundtrack heat. Speaking of Less Than Zero Bright Lights Big City, Jay McInerney on the birth of yuppies (not for nothing but NY Mag is the “show you how to do this son” of print-to-web). Somebody made a video for my Cardigans edit. Almost bought this on the Cocaine Blunts eBay auctions (welcome back). This dude has been a favorite since the Out Of Sight trunk music. Got Rich Twice. Radiohead played on computer parts. Going to DJ in Poland next month, hoping to cop some epic posters (full disclosure: found that Google image searching “Short Circuit 2″). Dancefloor Dale.

A Week In Flyers

Bunch of shows coming up, including an afternoon freebie in SF, my first set at LAX (improbable but true), and a trade show spectacular in Las Vegas. Click me five on the left hand side for more info.

Back at the gold ranch… Nacho Lovers have an acid house mix up for download, we unearthed some lost tour photos, and RCRD LBL leaked a promo mp3 from Treasure Fingers’ excellent new single (which you should buy, natch)
